Ode to Cicadas

poetry

spectacular design
of the cicada’s corpse

caramelized by the sun

a perfect imprint
of its host

I feel I need to pause on life

for a while
until I stop feeling like a bug

caught in a too tight body

I think I’d like to start buzzing, too

in August
the last drops of summer
shaking from my wings
